Most home users who self-manage will be better served with the UCG-Ultra. Ubiquiti pulled a fast one on people by releasing the UXG-Lite first. From another thread, the UCG Ultra is self-managed. IOW, you don't need a cloudkey (or other). UXG-Lite cannot be self-managed and requires a cloudkey (or other). Enterprise grade, definitely not. Layer 3 switching is only available on like 2 of their models, the router goes haywire when you turn on security features, reporting doesn't even really work, vpn fails weekly, firmware releases are a crapshoot. I'd use their AP's but that's about it.

No, I don't believe a Unifi AP is worth it--especially unmanaged--but that's not because they're too expensive. If $3 per client is too expensive, I don't know what to tell you. I don't believe Unifi APs are worth it in any business environment because I don't believe they meet a minimum performance standard--especially unmanaged.

I have one AP in our solely for our meeting room, which is a cement room with windows so not ideal for WiFi and it works great in there.
